On Saturday, October 2, 2021, a group of Polkadot ambassadors and friends of Phala Network came together to organise the very first multi-chain in-person meetup, called the “Polkadot & Friends Picnic” in Hyde Park London. More than five networks participated in the event, and Phala cofounder Marvin even gave a virtual sharing session with the participants!
Three weeks since the picnic, we are very pleased to share that even though it was raining cats and dogs that day, out of 136 signups, 50-70 people still turned up to show their support! Some cycled through the storm, while others even brought their kids (7-10 years old!) to the gathering.
We as the organising team were heartened by the passion and “diamond hands 
” gung-ho spirit of the London Polkadot & Phala community, and were inspired by the strong positive feedback received for more similar events. It was a diverse bunch, with some friends from the art and music industry, Amazon, Apple and even the UK Financial Conduct Authority in attendance (he’s a crypto fan don’t worry ;-) ).
We are extremely grateful for the support and sponsorship of Web3 Foundation, Phala, Acala, Moonbeam, Polkadot and also Interlay/Kintsugi founder Alexei Zamyatin and team who took time out of their busy schedules to show support for the picnic.

We would like to take this opportunity to seek your support and tips as we produced about 40 Phala T Shirts and 1600+ stickers for the event to share with attendees, and this was borne as an upfront out-of-pocket expense of about £275 by the organisers.
With the upcoming parachain auctions, we are excited to continue building the local community through subsequent events in the pipelines. Thanks again to the whole PHAmily for all your support and for helping us make this first multi-chain picnic since COVID-19 a roaring success!
